Ark Sano's musical activity expands from performing at clubs and concerts to music education, composing, arranging, conducting, studio recording, producing, etc.
Among those, composition is one of the most emphasized areas. His extensive taste for music enabled him to compose various styles of music other than his major field, jazz and classical music. His compositions received plenty of great reviews for its individual, intellectual, meanwhile warm, affectionate and friendly melody, harmony, and structure. His compositional style covers diverse phases from orthodox to contemporary. He has scored some short films beside composing the music for live audiences.

He often performs his jazz compositions and arrangements at live performance. His second leader album "In Storm, In Breeze" which is his latest jazz release, contains four of his latest jazz compositions. Beside for his own trio, he also compose and arrange for jazz big bands in occasion, and has done some orchestration works.

He has completed the project of arranging all 25 pieces of Burgmuller's "Leichte etuden Op.100" for flute ensemble. Currently he is finishing and proof-reading a series of piano compositions he wrote by the commission of New Life Christian Church for some of his upcoming CD projects, while writing for big bands and Japan America Chamber Orchestra which he serves as a music director.
